Michael Amos Morgan was born January 30,1988 in Grand Junction, CO. He was the beloved son of Tom and Verna Morgan. Michael lived in Redvale, CO with his mom and dad and next door to his grandparents. Much of his childhood was spent there playing with cousins and friends.
In 1999 Michael moved to San Angelo Texas with his dad. He became a Texan through and through, he loved it there. He graduated from Wall High School in 2006. Following graduation, he worked in the oil fields and as a welder. In 2018 he found his passion for over the road trucking and traveled all 48 states, collecting stories, friendships and chosen family everywhere he went.
Micheal married Crystal on July 12, 2014, in West Texas, dressed in camo and orange, true to his authentic, wild, and anything but ordinary self. In October 2025, he and Crystal achieved a dream of starting their own pilot car business, escorting oversized loads. Michael loved the biggest challenges most – the super loads. The heavier, wider, and more complicated the job, the brighter he smiled.
He was an artist at heart. He loved drawing, especially deer and mountain scenes, and sketched countless tattoo designs. He enjoyed a good joke, making people laugh, and playing guitar with his dad. Music brought him peace and he had a gift of always playing the perfect song that matched any moment. He loved a challenge and shortly before his passing, Michael had challenged himself to reading the Bible in a year with the Jack Graham podcast.
Michael lost his mom in the fall of 1996 and while the loss was devastating, it never hardened his heart. If anything, it made him love harder and bigger than most. He believed the happiness and well being of others should come before his own. This was reflected in his friendships and the way he loved his wife and his four stepsons who he loved, raised, and provided for as if they were his own. He was the ultimate family man and although those boys did not share his DNA, they shared every piece of his heart. He stepped into their lives without hesitation and loved them fiercely and fully. He taught them how to play guitar, work on cars, and drive mountain roads and most importantly, how to carry themselves with respect. He was steady, dependable, and strong.
Michael died unexpectedly on January 30, 2026, on his 38th birthday. He will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him. He loved big and welcomed everyone with open arms. His love was unconditional and unending, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his love, lessons, laughter, and music will echo on in the lives he shaped and all who knew him. The world is a darker, smaller place without him. He was preceded in death by his mother Verna Morgan, grandparents Ron and Betty Knuckles, Grandparents Dan and Jackie Morgan, Uncle Joe Morgan, Aunt Valerie Herron, Uncle Doug Hewlett, and his Great Aunt Grace Porter. He leaves behind his dad Tom Morgan, wife Crystal, sons Alex, Wyatt, Ethan, and Lucas, Aunt Ronnie Lynch (James), Uncle Denver Knuckles (Erin), Aunt Twyla Jensen (Jay), Aunt Danie, and many many cousins.
Cremation was requested, a graveside service will be held March 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM in Nucla, CO. The family welcomes anyone who would like to join in saying goodbye to this incredible man.
