Gary Lane North, son of Geneva North and Guy Willard North, was born on November 26, 1942 and passed away on June 14, 2026.
Gary spent his childhood and school years in Idalia, Colorado. At the age of 17, he left to serve in the United States Army.
He met Mary Lou Sandy in January 1981, and they were married on July 25, 1981. Together they shared 44 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva North; his father, Guy Willard North; his brother, Donald Wayne North; and his sister, Kitty Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou North; daughter Mylie (Shane) Cottingham; sons Gary (Donnise) North and Brian (Dana) North; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister Janice (Don) Elrick; and sister-in-law Zeke North (Donald Wayne North).
Gary worked as a farm equipment mechanic and heavy equipment operator at several locations across eastern Colorado.
One of the highlights of his life was helping discover mammoth bones at the Selby and Dutton sites in eastern Colorado, where he had the opportunity to become acquainted with paleontologists from the Smithsonian Institution.
He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, panning for gold, and spending time outdoors. Through his love of nature, he passed on a lasting curiosity about the natural world to his children and grandchildren.
