Frankie Jean Paxton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 24, 2026 in Brush, Colorado. Frankie had just turned 90 years old.
She was born in Franklin County, Illinois on June 30, 1936 to Robert Oral Browning and Emma (Furlow) Browning. She was the oldest of their 5 children – her siblings were Ethel (Paxton), Ralph (Browning), Effie (Stump) and Elizabeth (Scriffiny). The family moved to Colorado in 1946 and settled in Louisville in 1948 and that is where she lived for many years. Frankie married John Paul Paxton on July 24, 1964 and they had two sons – Robert, born in 1965 and Steven, born in 1968 – whom she dearly loved. Frankie also lived in Sterling, Colorado and later in Wray, Colorado during her later years.
Frankie found joy and purpose in the little things – time spent with her family, remembering every extended family member’s birthday and calling to let them know she was thinking of and praying for them, lunches with her long-time group of dear friends, doing word search and sudoku puzzles and she loved sweets. She taught us that happiness is often found in the simple things of life. She also had a deep faith in God that carried her throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Tonya) Paxton and Steven (Cheryl) Paxton. Her grandchildren, Jacob (Candace) Paxton, Evan (Braigen) Paxton, Stephanie Paxton, Brian (Amelia) Paxton, Randal (Madilyn – his fiancé) Paxton and Timothy Paxton. And her great grandchildren Aksel Braach, Kaiden, Skylah, Isaac, Israel, Isabella and Meritt Paxton. She also had many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Effie Stump, brother-in-law Jesse Stump, brother Ralph Browning, and great nephew Jeremiah Browning.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she knew Jesus as her personal Savior and is now celebrating with Him. Frankie will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
