Adah Mae “Amy” Snedeker Fix went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2026, after struggling with Parkinson’s disease dementia for many years. She was born on March 23, 1937 to William Paul and Clara Snedeker. Amy was born and raised in Yuma, Colorado and was the youngest of six children. She was very much a tomboy growing up and loved being outside and involved in sports. She learned how to ride a unicycle after her brother, Bill, decided to tear apart her new bicycle to make one. He never learned how to ride it, but she rode all over Yuma on it. She was in a tumbling group called “The Clowns” while she was in high school and was also a cheerleader with an interesting uniform to prove it. During summers she was a lifeguard at the Yuma Pool and also played softball. After graduating high school in 1955, she attended Colorado State College (now UNC) in Greeley for one year then moved to Denver for modeling school. On August 10, 1958, she married the love of her life, Duard Lee Fix of Wray and they lived on the family farm five miles south of Wray for over 50 years before building and moving into their new home on the Wray Golf Course in 2009. They lovingly named it Privy View Estate due to its close proximity to the golf course latrine. Even during the hard years of farm life, their three children, Denise, Dawnelle and Darus had a wonderful childhood. The riding lawn mower, go-kart, mini-bike and big treehouse kept the kids entertained for hours. They did, of course, learn how to work as well.

Amy was an accomplished golfer winning many tournaments around the county and was in the Women’s Golf League. She was also in a bowling league back when Wray had a bowling alley. When Duard bought a Cessna airplane, she took all the classes with him and received a better grade than he did on the written test which she liked to tease him about. To say that she had an ornery streak was an understatement and she certainly kept Duard on his toes as well as family and friends. Amy also had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Wray United Methodist Church for 50+ years, was a member of the singing group, Wrayvens, and also sang with Jane Buchanan and Sally Warrick for dinners, funerals, and special events. Back in the day, Supper Club was very popular. Sixteen couples, who were all dear friends, would gather once a month at one of their homes for a delicious meal and then play Bridge for hours. This happened for 50 years until too many friends had passed away. She was a member of several women’s organizations at one time but, most importantly, she was by her dear husband’s side as he helped civically within the community. And, of course, they attended all the sporting events for their children, and later, as many events as they could with their grandchildren.

Amy was preceded in death by her husband Duard, their stillborn son, Gregory, who died November 1961, and her granddaughter Jensen Haynes. Her parents Paul and Clara, her bothers and sister-in-laws, Donald (Dauphan), Robert, William (June), and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita (Jay) Carson and Jan (Sandy) Magee.

Amy is survived by her daughters, Denise Gaynor, Dawnelle (Max) Haynes, and son, Darus (Keri) Fix. Grandchildren Dane Gaynor, Deidra Fix, Gunnar Haynes, Ryleigh Neb (Darin) and Kace Fix. Great-grandchildren Dane Austin Gaynor and Meridee Gaynor and sister-in-law Marge Snedeker. She has many special nieces and nephews that stayed in contact with her and loved her. Judy Snedeker (Jim Cary), Cindy Snedeker Stowe (Jim), Rick Snedeker, Amy Magee Blair (Fred Hansen), John and Pam Magee, Peggy Carson and Missy Ortiz, Sam and Kim Carson, Johanna Carson Belobraydic (John), Bob and Lisa Carson, and Donnie Carson Godette. Nieces and nephews from the Fix side of the family that she loved are Barry (Kay) Dykes, Bonnie Dykes Stahlin (Rick), Julie Dykes Clas, Merrie Carson, and Grace Carson Csaszar (Norb).

Amy loved her life in Wray and each of her amazing friends. A big THANK YOU to those of you who went out of your way to include her and keep her involved.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Wray United Methodist Church. Refreshments to follow at the WRAC. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the WRAC (Wray Rehabilitation and Athletic Center) or Wray Ambulance Service.
